What’s your bag(gage) baby?

I recently went on a trip to Miami to attend a wedding of a dear friend.  One of her other friends went with and we traveled together so we had lots of time to chat.  We started talking about the relationship she has with her boyfriend who is a really great guy.  In the beginning though, she was worried because  he has a kid.  She wasn’t quite sure how to handle that, since she hadn’t dated anyone with kids before.  So, we got on the subject of “baggage”.

What is baggage and how much is too much?  Is it ok if it fits in a carry-on?  Is it too much if it’s checked?  Wouldn’t checked be better btw, you don’t have to deal with it on the flight and you don’t have to cram it in to the overhead space.  And, why do guys not help anymore when they see a women struggling to get it in there?  They help if we are struggling to get them in us! HAHAHAHAHAHAH!  Actually that doesn’t happen much.  Poor us.  I digress.

What is baggage?  I have kids and like dating someone with kids because they understand the shit I’m dealing with.  It’s really nice right now to date someone raising teenagers, because mine are a challenge at times.  I love my kids dearly, but wish I could get them to see the errors of their behaviour.

I understand the point of a younger women not wanting to date a guy with kids, since she hasn’t been there yet though.  But, if that’s the only thing, and he’s a great guy, I think that baggage can fit in the ziploc bag and be put through the machine.

I would rather have that baggage than a guy going through a divorce and all he can talk about is how his wife is trying to fuck over his life.  That kind of baggage is the kind US Airways charges you and extra $50 or $100 for.  If you’re flying Southwest, those bags are free!  They are still a pain in the ass to deal with.

My baggage has always been having long distance relationships.  That kind of baggage definitely won’t work for a lot of people, I’ve managed to do it a lot though.  Great guys in Scottsdale are few and far between.  I don’t know why and if anyone can prove me wrong, have at it.  Some people’s baggage may be their career or lack of one.  I think if the person loves what they do, they will be successful at it.  If you don’t love it, change it! You and everyone else will be happier for it.

So, the question is, what’s your baggage, and how small of a bag can you fit it in??
